ARRECIFE
is the political and commercial capital of the island. it boast a
population of around 50,000. banks, shops, restaurants and bars are found
along the promenade. |

ARRIETA is a very delightful fishing village, with a small quay where you can
find typical cafe's and sample some tapas and excellent fresh fish. |
CESAR MANRIQUE FOUNDATION the world famous artist
Cesar manrique
built a house in
tahiche on the site of a volcanic lavas field. after his death he ask for his
art to be viewed through out his home for the public. open Monday to Friday 10.00am - 19.00pm
and sat & sun 10.00am - 14.00pm hrs.

CACTUS GARDEN toward the north of the island, the
conhineal beetle cultivated to
produce a red dye. near Guatiza, Cesar manrique designed a garden where you can
see 1420 different types of cactus. open all week 10.00am - 18.00pm.

COSTA TEGUISE
one of the main tourist areas with long
golden
beaches. there are plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, and banking facilities.
for golfers there is a 18 hole golf course.

EL GOLFO a stunning contrast of black beaches and a
deep
green lagoon this is a unique spectacular sight to see. the large
volcanic crater is filled by the sea from the underground. there are only a
few restaurants in el golfo but if you enjoy freshly court fish then this is
the place for you.

FAMARA is on the west side of the island, this town
has a
beach which is the biggest on the island and has great white sands and a great backdrop of mountains. swimming in the
sea here is not recommended because of strong tides famara beach is more for
surfing.

HARIA - VALLEY OF A THOUSAND PALMS this town has great views thee has
been a t ale that when a baby is born that a palm tree was planted and two if
it was a boy Haria has some lovely restaurants and tapas bars.

LA GERIA is the biggest wine growing region in the
canary islands the vines are planted in the sand and ash, and grown behind a
half circular stone wall because of the high winds here in lanzarote. |

LA GRACIOSA one of
the smallest islands in the canary's islands grasciosa is a nature reserve.
to visit the island take a ferry from Orzola they leave at 9.00 & 10.00am
and return at 15.00 & 16.00. |

LOS HERVIDEROS watch the power of the sea and all
its glory. a solid lava mass at the cliffs edge, has sheer drop to the sea.
rolling waves crash thought the multiple crevices and lava bubbles, which
expel the water with great force |

LOS JAMEOS DEL AGUA
a prehistoric eruption created
natural caves with roofless bubbles of lava (jameos).
a beautiful lake is connected to the sea from underground, and is home to a
rare species of blind albino crab.

MIRADOR
DEL RIO yet another of Manrique's creations. from the top of a cliff,
hundreds of
meters above the sea level, there is a lookout point. the views
over the island of la grasciosa are breath taking you can go out side of the
building and look over the cliff and see the shire drop.

MONUMENT OF THE CAMPESINO in the geographical
centre of the island stands a 15meter high modern sculpture of the capensino
(farm worker), with his cat, dog and rat . nearby is the museum, shop and
bar. |

MUSEUM DEL VINO- EL GRIFO the museum occupies an
18th centaury bodega (wine cellar), and is the oldest in the canary islands
which still produces wine. it is located at el grifo , a 40 hectare
vineyard. entry to the museum is via the monument to the grifo bird, by
Cesar Manrique. |

LAG OMAR is the unique museum, restaurant and art
gallery built into the mountain in nazaret. superb international cuisine
accompanied by live jazz music, is served in the most spectacular settings .
the house, located close to the restaurant was originally built for Omar
sherif

PAPAGAYO
at the southern most tip of the island are the
crystal clear waters and
white sands of papagayo. There are many more beaches around papagayo to
choose from as well some are nudist beaches so beware.

PLAYA
BLANCA the southern most town in lanzarote
was
once
a small fishing town. with recent luxury developments of big hotels from four
star to five star hotels playa Blanca has become a major tourist resort. There
is a promenade with bars and restaurants to pick from as well. |
PUERTO
CELERO between Puerto del Carmen and playa
quemada, the brothers
Calero designed and built a beautiful marina. restaurants and bars line the
front of the harbour and there are more shops and bars to come. |
PUERTO
DEL CARMEN is lanzarote biggest tourist spot it offers 12kilometers
of sandy
beaches and has the best nightlife on the island club, discos bars
restaurants and shops galore also a big shopping centre called bioferes with
lots of shop bars and restaurants you also have big events that happen in
Puerto del Carmen such an iron man, carnival

TIMANFAYA
- THE FIRE MOUNTAIN fifty-one kilometres of lava fields have been
turned i nto
a national park. a coach will take you across the volcanic fields to a
restaurant where you can have a volcanic powered barbeque and also collect some
gifts as well.

TEGUISE
the ancient capital of the island has beautiful buildings all around the
market square, with the old church of
parroquia san Miguel and the museum of
palace spinal. the big event to happen every Sunday here in teguise is the
biggest market on the island which starts at 9.00am - 14.00pm

YAZIA an exceptionally pretty town
to
be founded route to playa Blanca . there are a few traditional restaurants and
bars to be seen and tried. |
