Carnival

Carnival is held once a year all over the Island. This is one of the largest events that Lanzarote has to offer and is by far the most enjoyable.The carnival in Lanzarote is the most awaited event in the Lanzarote calendar. It is held every year and one of the few times you see everyone in Lanzarote together in one place.
The Processions are held in Arrecife, Puerto Del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca (on different dates).

Ironman Triathlon

Every year between March and May it is iron man season here in Lanzarote, where you´ll find the most dedicated athletes both men and women trying to become the best of the best.Lanzarote is known to be the hardest Ironman competition in the world mostly due to the humidity and mountainous course undertaken by the competitors. This means training starts many months before the competition takes place.Each Ironman is expected to complete the course of a 3,8k swim,180k bike and 42k run, hoping to win a place at the final in Hawaii.
This is an event not to be missed !!

The Dash

Taking place over the weekend of the 17th and 18th July. The Dash provides an exciting opportunity to race to Tarfaya, Western Sahara by crossing the ocean from the Canary Islands in a safe and fun way with like-minded people. The race is open to yachts, motorboats, windsurfers, kitesurfers, and multihull boats. Along the way the Dash provides entertainment, a truly memorable experience and the opportunity to make a difference to your own and the lives of other's.

Last year's inaugural event saw a limited number of privileged sailors and crew make the trip and no-one was left untouched by their experience. Due to popular demand this year's event has been opened up to a much wider fleet and to spectators but places are limited and available on a first come first served basis only. All participants are expected to make a donation directly to L'Adaph charity of either clothing, a wheelchair/ crutches, or money through bidding in one of the Dash charity auctions. L'Adaph is an established charity based in the Sahara who helps disabled children and adults.

The crossing is approximately 72 nautical miles. It is estimated that the different types of craft (Windsurfers, Catamarans, Motor Cruisers and etc). The presence of experienced sailors is another incentive for those with less offshore experience to participate. Arrival times in Tarfaya will start from lunchtime and go through to early evening. A wide range programme of entertainment takes place both before the start and after the finish. The event enjoys the full support of the Moroccan Tourist Board and all authorities.

Las Tres Islands

Tres Islas is another new event in Lanzarote, with the same theme as Ironman, Tres Islas challenge will push the people taking the challenge to the very limits. Las Tres Islas ( or The 3 Island Challenge) is a new form of quadrathlon. This challenge has taken the triathlon as we know it, to a extreme and exciting event but it's also been tailored to fit in better with the Canary Islands.
The contestants start from the beach of La Graciosa Island, then head over to Lanzarote and finish in Corralejo (located in Fuerteventura). This event allows people to cross 3 different Islands in just the one day.
Las Tres Islas starts with a swim of a 2km, the when in Lanzarote a 2 km steep cliff climb, 72km cycle through and around Lanzarote and then a 10km sail or kayak across to Fuerteventura.
The competitors are allowed to enter as individuals, or as a team of 2, 3 or 4 people. This allows them to competing relay-style.

Lanza Aid

Is a charity event that is held once a year in Puerto Del Carmen's old town harbour. The event was started in 2005 in order to help the victiams of the Indonesian island of Sumatra which suffered a Tsunami.After the sucess of this event, it was decided to make this a reacurring anual event in order to raise money for charity.
The main theme of this event is to raise money but you will find this to be a free, live concert where as you will be asked by the volunteers to donate some money.
As this event grows you will find more and more famous people will get involved so this will become the biggest event in Lanzarote in the very near future.
